007, Moore style.
For the James Bond fans among you (and there’s plenty) Roger Moore was slated to portray Ian Fleming’s cool spy years before he actually did. When Sean Connery first stepped away from the role after filming 1967′s You Only Live Twice, the Bond production team offered the role to Moore. But he was already under contract making his long running TV series, The Saint.
This forced the producers to search elsewhere, with the idea of someday luring Moore into the franchise.
The next Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, starred the unknown Australian actor George Lazenby. His turn proved unpopular. By now Moore’s obligations to TV were over as The Saint ran it’s course.
