TSD Staffer’s Joke About Sarah Palin’s Snatch Latest Media Maelstrom
BOCA RATON, FL (Sportsman’s Daily Wire Service) Chet Lassiter, the veteran sportscaster and Sportsman’s Daily Radio correspondent has been suspended without pay after refusing to apologize for an insensitive joke he made about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
On the heels of the war of words Palin had with TV Host David Letterman after his joke about Palin’s 14 year old daughter, the former Republican Vice-Presidential candidate now finds herself in a growing firestorm of controversy after the 67 year old Lassiter jokingly referred to her vagina.
“All I said was, ‘I bet if I sniffed her seat, her snatch would have left a smell like Alaskan King Salmon.’ That’s all I said. What’s the big deal?” said Lassiter.
It didn’t take long for media outlets to jump on the story.
Republican strategist Matt Macoviac said Lassiter is part of a growing number of high profile celebrities who feel Palin is a fair target just because she’s a woman.
“It was a crude, insensitive thing to say,” said Macoviac. “You can bet he wouldn’t have made the same joke about Barack Hussein Obama.”
TSD legal team member Stan Hinkle said Lassiter was a phone guest on the Chris Rivers Sports Hour in Nashville when the topic of the Letterman controversy was brought up by another caller. Lassiter made the joke and was quickly dismissed from the show.
“The sad thing is, it wasn’t even a sports story,” said Hinkle. “But Chet got sucked into the conversation and let loose, and now we’re dealing with the fallout. And it isn’t pretty. Right now Chet isn’t in an apologizing mood. He’s running his mouth about his rights -something about the First Amendment and the Dean Martin Roasts.”
