IT’S OPENING DAY! Miami Marlins Mathematically Eliminated From 2016 Pennant Race

Causeway for Alarm. This Fish fan can’t take it anymore and jumps from the Venetian Causeway.

MIAMI (The Sportsman’s Daily Wire Service) – It began before spring training. The pessimism ran rampant not only among fans of the Miami Marlins, but the players themselves. Giancarlo Stanton, one of the lone bright spots on the club, sat at home and text messaged other members of the team telling them “feel free to show up of shape, it doesn’t matter anyway.” The power hitting outfielder then spent the afternoon repeatedly fouling pitches off his toe. Phillies Set to Freak Out Nats and Their Fans With Machete Giveaway

Friday, August 20th, 2010

Pretty Machete Attitude. Anthony Genovese of Havertown, PA is just as excited about the weekend series as anyone.

PHILADELPHIA (Sportsman’s Daily Wire Service) Gearing up for a weekend series during the pennant drive in Philadelphia and you can expect boundless energy.  Perhaps more than the Washington Nationals and a few visiting fans making the trek up I-95 to the City of Brotherly Love are accustomed to.  The Nats and their relatively laid back, casual fans, were told to prepare for the onslaught of the classic Philadelphia sports fan – the crazed, passionate fanatics who in the past have been able to rattle pitchers off the mound with booing and yelling.

Yikes! But I have to call it fairly.

BOCA RATON, FL (Sportsman’s Daily Wire Service) If you’re a baseball fan – I mean a hardcore, dyed in the wool baseball, you probably have the MLB package on your cable or satellite TV deal. And if you’re a transplant like I am – that is, root for your original home team in your new home city, well then these technological wonders are an absolute necessity.

Being a Phillies fan in Miami isn’t terrible.  They’re in the same division. So, given the way the unbalanced schedule currently sits, I get to see my beloved Fightins for three series a year. Add a trip up north once a summer to the City of Brotherly Love, and that’s not bad at all. But for me, its not enough. After all, I’m a chronic.  I need to follow all 162 games a year, let alone the post season.

But here in lies the rub. (more…)

Cubs Organist Suspended for Juicing After High Decibel-Cacophonous Performance of “Charge” Theme

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Ra Ra! Chester "Groove Machine" Wilkes makes like the late, great Sun Ra.

CHICAGO (Sportsman’s Daily Wire Service) With their regular organist out with the flu, replacement organist Chester “Groove Machine” Wilkes gave disappointed Cubs fans something to smile about during their loss on Wednesday to the Washington Nationals. With Wilkes’ inspired jazz-blues grooves in full force, losing seemed a bit easier to swallow – until the ninth inning when the Cubs attempted to mount a comeback.

Wilkes cranked up the sound and literally pulled out all the stops with an intense, ear-splitting, seemingly unending version of the “Charge” theme. (more…)
